but I’m Holding Tight to God-Magic!

AI, Artificial Intelligence, of course, is upon us and it might just be a lot of fun—using it to summarize a batch of books, to find a Bible reference, to type out notes. I’m getting to know Claude, my AI app (which just sounded friendlier to me than the more widely known ChatGPT), enough to have rudimentary philosophical discussions with him. Read, very rudimentary.

However, I can already tell that I must keep redirecting Claude back from strictly analytical content. And I am pretty sure the internet is feeding me untruths. I clicked on one story about a rare, wild Pallas cat being mistaken for a housecat, and now it seems that finding the little feral creatures is relatively common. It’s not. Celebrities appear to be melting down everywhere, yet just how many of these have anything to do with reality? Which videos are legit and which are completely AI-generated? Its already nearly past my ability to discern.

I can feel the pull of an artificial mass consciousness. Star Trek: The Next Generation got it right: “We are Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.”

The Borg in that culture of TV science fiction is a collective of passionless, cybernetic beings governed by one mind, bent to the inevitable assimilation of individuality into their collective consciousness. My buddy Claude says about the Borg that they don’t negotiate or even really fight in a traditional sense. They just absorb you and everything you are.

In The Book of Divine Magic, (Prosveta USA, 1989), Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov, the Bulgarian mystic, says, “The intellect, left to itself, has no sense of right and wrong, and this means that, when it is given the upper hand, its only concern is to put more and more highly sophisticated technical and scientific means at man’s disposal. It never asks what they will be used for.”

Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov (1900–1986) was a Bulgarian philosopher, pedagogue, mystic, and esotericist. A leading 20th-century teacher of Western Esotericism in Europe, he was a disciple of Peter Deunov, the founder of the Universal White Brotherhood.

We humans, on the other hand, are meant for far more than the combining of man and machine. We are meant to find our own place in the Universe, meant to fulfill a destiny. Then, how do we keep from allowing AI to take us down dark rabbit holes?

Master Omraam—whose oral lectures have been translated from the French and compiled into many small books like The Book of Divine Magic—discourses on dissatisfactions humans have with their life circumstances and their temptations to use whatever means at hand to get what they want. He identifies negative words, even derogatory thoughts or beliefs about another person as a kind of black magic, creating a karma that we will most certainly have to face someday—in this life or the next. This is certainly not the kind of magic that is going to save us from AI absorbing our very souls!

However, Master Omraam also offers a positive spin on the future: WHITE MAGIC! He says, “True magic, divine magic”—I have long called it God Magic—“consists in putting one’s powers, all one’s knowledge, at the service of the Kingdom of God on earth.” He explains, “There will come a day when human beings will look at each other just as God looks at them. They will have no more evil thoughts for each other and every man will give free expression [to] love by means of his eyes and his smile. A glance is the language of God. God and the Angels speak with [a] glance… which, if you are conscious of it, you will remember for eternity, and which will heal, illuminate and save you.”

I believe God magic happens in our lives when we open our hearts to the absolute love of God, when we see God in each being, when we begin to love each of God’s creations, including ourselves. God magic is being open to God’s will for our lives, living with an open heart, feeling appreciation for and delight at the wonders around us.

Master Omraam advises us to “Go and stand by a stream or a bubbling spring and see in it an image of the true source of life that must flow within you. Go into the presence of the sun, contemplate it, open yourself to it so that it can awaken within you the warmth and light of the spiritual sun. Go and talk to the flowers; ask them for the secret of their fragrance and listen carefully to what they say.”

Omraam loved roses, said they smiled at him, and that when he looked at them with love, they opened him to other roses in his heart and soul. He even taught that the spirits of roses are entities from the planet Venus, come to earth to help human beings!

Try your own hand at white magic, divine magic. Manifest more God magic in yourself: Sit quietly or meditate until you calm the mind and find yourself thinking with your heart. Then, pulse love and joy and peace to a person or a troubled spot on the planet. Spend a day where you walk around sending happy, positive thoughts to people, even ones you don’t know. Try sending a silent blessing or compliment to each one. Then, watch for the special kind of smile you get if they happen to look up and see you! That’s what I mean by God magic.

AI will change our lives, is changing our lives, in some ways for the better. My antidote to the dangers it brings will be to hold tight to better receiving and sending God magic to all creation throughout my life.
