What Jane Goodall, Horses, and 2026 Are Here to Teach Us About the Divine Feminine

Jane Goodall has been on my heart since she passed last year. I’ve cried more than once—not just because the world lost an icon, but because her presence shaped who I am. I had the honor of meeting her and hearing her speak several times during my career at the Houston Zoo, and those moments still live within me.

Her legacy is profound. Her love for all animals—from chimpanzees to chickens, from her beloved dog Rusty to the horses she rode as a young girl—shaped how millions of us see the world. Jane didn’t just observe animals. She connected with them. She listened. And she invited us all to do the same.

I visited the Becoming Jane exhibit, which opened in a nearby town the same day she de-parted this earth. I’ve thanked her. I’ve spoken to her several times, as I truly believe her soul is still guiding, still teaching, still whispering encouragement to those of us who carry the torch.

Even the “Goodall Method”—her embedded observer approach—has revealed powerful in-sights into the nature of wild horses. She helped the world see animals as sentient, sovereign beings. That understanding lives on through all of us who walk with animals as teachers, healers, and sacred mirrors.

One of Jane’s greatest messages was to have hope and shine our own light in the world. And that brings me here… Have you ever looked into the eyes of a horse and felt something stir inside you?

Horses carry a presence that is impossible to ignore. They are grounded, powerful, intuitive, and deeply connected to the rhythm of life. When we stand with them, we feel our own nervous system soften, our hearts open, and our true essence reflected back to us.

In a world that moves too fast, horses remind us to slow down, breathe, and return to what matters most. They offer healing without words and teach us how to live with awareness, courage, and freedom.

And this year, their wisdom will be especially important. Last July, horses and guides told me something powerful was happening next year—and that horses needed to be involved with helping people, especially women.

It wasn’t until a few months later that I discovered that every 60 years a rare cycle returns—the Year of the Fire Horse. It is a time of transformation and rapid shifts, urging us to step more fully into alignment with our authentic selves. This year already has the energy of a bucking bronco, and this dramatic theme will become more and more apparent as we move forward.

Horses are natural healers. Their electromagnetic heart field is five times stronger than ours, which is why we feel so balanced and energized in their presence. They don’t judge or force. Instead, they meet us as we are—and in that reflection, we discover who we are meant to be.

Through their presence, horses invite us to step out of the noise of daily life and into a deeper rhythm. They show us how to live with integrity, awareness, and power. They remind us that true freedom isn’t something we chase—it’s something we embody. This is the power within the horse. In June, I am hosting The Power Within Horse Retreat in the mountains of Paradise Valley, Montana.

With the May horse retreat filled, the horses guided me to offer another opportunity. This four-day sacred journey is designed for a small circle of women who are ready to step into their next chapter with clarity, freedom, and strength.

This is not a riding vacation or a workshop. It is a transformational experience—a chance to release what no longer serves you, awaken to your true essence, and step forward into your destiny.

Together with the horses, we will move through guided interactions, meditations, sacred ceremonies, and time in nature. You will experience their healing presence, their guidance, and their wisdom in ways that will continue to ripple through your life long after the retreat ends.

Horses, Women & the Return of the Divine Feminine

The horse has always been very sacred to me. When you stand beside a horse, something happens. Your breath slows. Your mind softens. Your heart begins to beat in rhythm with theirs. Horses don’t see your masks, your to-do lists, or the roles you juggle. They see straight to the truth of who you are. To look into the eyes of the horse is to see your soul’s reflection.

This is why so many women are drawn to the horse—not just as companions, but as guides. Horses carry a medicine we deeply need right now: presence, strength, balance, and unconditional love. And in 2026, that medicine will be more important than ever.

The Sacred Timing of 2026

Every 60 years, a rare frequency returns—the Year of the Fire Horse. It is a cycle of transformation, courage, and rapid shifts. Fire Horse years call us to stop living by default and start riding forward with intention and awareness.

Helping You & Your Animals Live a More Heart-and-Soul-Filled Life

Animals play a huge role in intuition. From your pets to wild animals, they want to help guide you in your life. When you become aware of how animals are trying to reach and teach you, you have an awareness about life that is simply profound.

Intuition is also about nature. On a hike, the majority of people go from point A to point B. If they used their intuition, they could tune in to animals, along with Mother Earth and her elements, and receive their messages. When you strengthen your connection with animals, nature, and Mother Earth, your intuition increases and creates a ripple effect in your life such as:

• You can know what animals, nature, and Mother Earth are trying to tell you.
• You have more of a feeling of self-worth while standing in your truth.
• You have more clarity in your daily life, and your path and purpose seem more clear.
• You find it easier to stay present and grounded while finding balance and harmony amidst challenges.
• You understand humanity as a whole better, including individuals, which can inspire you to create a ripple effect that will benefit others.

When you allow intuition to help guide you, you realize that, like an intricately woven spider’s web, we are all energetically intertwined in the delicate facets of life. And knowing this helps you to believe in yourself—and in all of life…

How can intuition benefit animals?

• For behavioral issues, you can ask your animal why they’re acting that way. Most issues are emotionally based, and they can tell you what will help them to stop that behavior.
• If your pet’s sick, you can ask them how they’re feeling and how you can help.
• When you’re away from home, you can check in with your animal to see how they’re doing and remind them when you’ll return. This can be a game changer for anxiety-stricken animals.
• For lost animals, you can communicate to receive location details or guide them back home.
• If you’re not sure if your animal is ready to cross over, you can ask them. They can tell you what to look for so you know they’re ready. When they do pass on, you can speak to them as if they’re still here. Your heart-and-soul connection does not diminish just because their physical body is no longer present.

How can you become more intuitive?

• Look at what you are putting into your body. Your body functions better, including your intuition, when you consume a healthy diet.
• Look at what you are putting on your body or exposing your body to. Pay attention to personal products and those for your home and lawn, as many contain chemicals. Also, pay attention to EMF exposure.
• Read an intuition-development book. The book pictured here, The Soul Watchers, is about using your abilities to receive and understand guidance and how to utilize Mother Earth’s medicine chest.
• Dive into holistic care. Doing this for yourself and your animals heightens your intuitive abilities. The more you learn and take action, the more connected you become with yourself and others.
• Take an intuitive development class. A live animal communication class is a great way to improve your intuitive skills—not to mention the most fun! When you learn how to speak to animals, you’re even capable of talking to those that have passed on and to those out in Nature.

Animals’ Quest to Awaken Mankind

Animals have been watching your soul since before you were born. Their quest is to oversee our souls’ journey and to awaken and enlighten our hearts and souls to the connection between them, nature and Mother Earth. Animals are here to help each person become better on a heart and soul level.

Our pets can bring us joy, companionship, strength, love and comfort. But their efforts go far beyond that. You may have animals in your life right now, or you did at one time. Or perhaps you just love animals and have not taken on that pet parent or foster role yet. Perhaps you are going through a difficult time in your life or feel lost. Maybe you just know or feel there has got to be more to life than this. The animals can show you the present, help you learn from the past, and propel you to your future.

There are more animals trying to “reach” you than you may realize—even right now. You have a divine purpose, and yes, the animals play an instrumental role in helping you discover AND accomplish this. The animals can show you how to awaken your life physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Just like they did for me.

I have always loved animals since I was a child. They have always been a constant in my life, and in ways I only discovered later, watched over me. When my parents went through an ugly divorce when my brother and I were just 6 and 7, the animals were there. When my father died tragically just several years later, the animals were there.

At 12 years old, I waited on customers at my mom’s plant nursery on the weekends. Our nursery was not just for plants. We helped raise several species of pet birds, which brought us joy and additional income. At 14, I bred, raised and sold championship pedigreed collies. Little did I know that collies were to become a major part of my life for over 30 years. Go Lassie!

The cats and other dogs that I shared my life with were amazing rescues. All kinds of pets have blessed my life from gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs and chinchillas to hermit crabs, turtles, rabbits, parakeets, cockatiels, conures, doves, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowl, chickens, cows and horses. And how could I forget tadpoles, frogs and toads!

Some animals found me. Some I found. I have loved them all. The animals guided me to a career with them. From 1991–2017, I worked full-time at the Houston Zoo in Texas, a world-class and renowned zoo recognized for their exceptional animal care and global conservation efforts. I progressed from zookeeper to senior supervisor during my 25+ year career. I helped manage the care of over 1,000 domestic, livestock, wildlife and exotic animals in the Children’s Zoo, including the animal ambassadors that were used in public presentations. I even supervised the staff of the incredible bug house. But the above figure doesn’t count the thousands of creatures that resided there—and when they have babies—it’s a lot! A highlight for me was when I taught and educated staff, volunteers and guests about the magnificent world of animals, big and small. I was even featured on a number of local TV stations, including in the NBC affiliate series, Houston Zooperstars Challenge, that ran for several years.

But while I was working at the zoo, I also reflected inward. Perhaps it was only natural for me to explore ways to help heal my body, mind and spirit. I was wounded on various levels. Between my parents’ divorce and my father’s death, you could say a “nightmare” ensued for my brother and I. That led to stomach and OCD issues.

I realized my childhood and animals had brought me to this point of seeking a path to wellness and whol-E-ness. From nutrition to energy work to animal communication and more, I was hooked for life! But what blew me away was the realization that what I had learned over the years for myself, I could also use to help animals! Through the process of helping my own animals, I knew they wanted me to do more to help the lives of other animals and those who cared for them.

And so it began….

Helping Your Animal Live Their Best Life Possible

Fear can affect animals in different ways. Your animal may act nervous, anxious, aggressive, destructive, or stressed. They may hide, vocalize, chew on their fur, or even self-mutilate. These actions can wreak havoc on your lives. Consider these holistic animal care (HAC) tips to help resolve your animal’s fears:

• Probiotics, bee pollen, valerian tincture, chamomile tincture, and CBD oil may have a calming effect.
• Chicken, lamb, and grains can create inflammation and may ‘heat up’ the body, making the issue worse.
• Light blue is a soothing color. Light pink can help with separation anxiety. Place a towel or blanket where your animal can lay on or near it to get the energy from that color. Keep in mind that red can amplify the undesirable behavior.
• Some crystals that may help to reduce fears are Amber, Amethyst, Aventurine, Bloodstone, Hematite, Zebra Jasper, Kyanite, Rose Quartz, Smokey Quartz, Sodalite, Tiger’s Eye, and Turquoise.
• Essential oils such as Bergamot, Clary Sage, Green Mandarin, Helichrysum, Lavender, Neroli, Roman Chamomile, Sweet Basil, Sweet Orange, Sweet Marjoram, Valerian and Ylang-Ylang may help with calming.
• While Rescue Remedy, the Bach Flower Essence blend, may help in acute situations, a custom blend can help your animal release deep emotional baggage, which is causing or contributing to their behavior.
• Sound therapy, such as Whole-Tones for Dogs, Through a Dog’s Ear, and Masaru Emoto’s Water Crystal Healing music CDs may help diminish fears.
• Massage can provide relaxation that could alleviate fears. Gently massaging your animal’s chest or ‘arm pits’ may do the trick.
• Using a special shirt or body wrapping with an elastic bandage may help your animal feel safe and secure.
• Tell your animal out loud what you want them to do and picture it clearly in your mind. Do not focus on what you don’t want to happen, as your animal may pick up on that. Tell your animal they are safe, loved and have a forever home. Ask your animal yourself or have a communicator do so to find out why your animal is fearful and what they think will help relieve their fears.

While most behaviors are based on emotions, have your vet check your animal out to make sure there is not a physical reason. Want to know what will best help your animal?

You can muscle test the potential holistic methods to come up with a plan of action. Depending on which methods show up, you then muscle test specific details, such as which nutrition, crystals, essences, oils, etc. will help, along with administration methods, applicable amounts, frequency and duration. Muscle testing shows you the path to help your animal with their behavioral or health issues and live their best life possible.

for Yourself and Your Animals?

There is inner and outer turmoil going on with humanity, for Mother Earth and in the Cosmos —and it really all boils down to perceived frequencies. There is also knowledge being presented, leading to awareness, which can then result in consciousness expansion and action. This, too, is all due to frequencies. How many of us, though, are focusing on these frequencies?

There are so many frequencies happening, some of which you may not be aware of. These frequencies include and yet, go far beyond the astrological effects of the planets, the Sun and the Moon… There are also ley lines, dragon lines, and Feng Shui energies in the home and workspace. There are frequencies in the atmosphere, such as EMFs and 5G! And what about the UFOs/UAPs and ETs?

A great first step is being aware of all the various frequencies you and your animals are being exposed to, so you can then take any protective and reinforcing steps needed for the well-being of yourself and family, your animals, and others. But there’s more to just knowing what frequencies you and loved ones are living with.

Perception is a frequency regulator. When you view something as positive or negative, you are assigning it a frequency that most likely will affect your body, mind, and spirit in a corresponding way. We’ve taught for years that illness and disease for animals and people are mainly emotionally based. There’s plenty of research to support that, for instance, the incredible work of Dr. Edward Bach (1886–1936), developer of the Bach Flower Remedies, and Dr. Masaru Emoto (1943–2014), who wrote The Hidden Messages in Water.

When you view something as negative, you are bringing that emotion into your being. When fear is held onto, for instance, it can emit an undesirable frequency within and around you. That’s why if you eat healthy food out of fear of getting cancer—not just because you know it’s good for you— the “nourishing” food you are eating can actually fuel your body with fear-based energy, which can then bring about exactly what you feared.

This was truly the most important piece of information that I learned in a class I took last year, because this is what happened to my teacher. The knowledge I learned totally makes sense, but sometimes you need to hear things said in a different way, in a new light, for it to awaken a part of you that can understand it on a deeper level and have it resonate with your soul. THEN you can easily apply it to your life, because the frequency of the information is now fully integrated.

There is far more to the concept of frequencies than meets the eye, which affects your daily life and the life of those you care for.

Beyond comprehending the frequencies, there are ways to take action, including rewiring yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. When you do act, what frequency is your state of being for that particular action?

It’s one thing to understand the frequencies and the bigger picture of what’s going on; it’s another to accept and to trust the truth of who you are as a divine soul. (This is a major frequency factor.) Then, you know where you are heading and how to take steps to “fuel” the life you desire.

Animals, fantastical beings, and other life-forms want to help you with this! • It can be done by distance because HAC is energy based.

How does HAC help animals?

• With animal communication, you can ask animals what they want, why they are acting like they are, how you can help them and more. Talk to them daily. Be aware of what you think and say because animals feed off your thoughts, emotions and words.
• Energy work is simple but powerful. Even five minutes daily can benefit both animals and people.
• Muscle testing can help you determine the best HAC methods that will help an animal. It also shows you the core diet, supplements and amounts the animal needs.
• Color therapy can be offered by placing a towel, sheet or blanket on the floor where the animal can lay on or near it. For instance, light blue may help anxiety, light pink separation anxiety and yellow grief/depression. Muscle testing shows you the best color.
• Flower essences work gently to release buried emotions that can manifest into health conditions. A custom, Bach Flower Essence blend using muscle testing is ideal.
• Mother Earth has so much to offer, including herbal therapy, crystals, essential oils, homeopathy and more.
• With a growing interest in the well-being of animals, more animal professionals are offering HAC services.

Marlie’s Story

Marlie was a yellow lab rescued by Cindy from a puppy mill. While vets had healed her physically, she was emotionally scarred. She would stay in her crate and not engage with Cindy’s other lab. We spoke to Marlie to find out that she never got a chance to be a mom and worried about her puppies and future. We did energy work on her. We told her it was ok to let the past trauma go and that she had a forever home with Cindy. As Marlie lay on the floor, her body started shaking with tremors. She let out the longest and loudest moan. She released her horrible past. She then got up off the floor and wagged her tail for the first time ever. Marlie was forever changed.

You Can Give Your Animals

In an ideal world, the greatest gifts you could give to your animals would be a forever home filled with love and the ability to understand each other on a heart and soul level.

Most pet-parents adopt their animals. But did you know that many of those animals don’t realize that they have a forever home? Even if they’ve been with you for years, it’s possible they don’t know that you intend to keep them. If your animal acts anxious, apprehensive, depressed, stressed, or has an upset tummy, they may be living in fear that each day will be their last with you. Look deeply into your animal’s eyes and tell them verbally, “You have a forever home with me. Wherever I live, you will be with me. I’m your forever person.”

So, what’s this heart and soul comprehension all about? First, know that if your animal doesn’t have auditory issues, they do hear you when you speak out loud to them. They want you to talk to them daily. Tell them when you leave your home and when you’ll return. Share how your day went. Talk about plans you have. To help avoid behavioral issues, tell your animal what you want them to do, not what you don’t want them to do. Picture your desires clearly in your mind. Tell them what positive reward they’ll receive for good behavior, and be sure to follow through.

If you want a deeper connection with your animals, then animal communication is the way to truly understand each other. And, it’s a way to each animals with hearing problems. Animals have the ability to speak with us, and we have the innate ability to communicate with them. Talking to animals means connecting heart to heart, mind to mind, and receiving information from them in various forms, such as images, thoughts, words, emotions, and sensations. Everyone is intuitive. We are all “gifted.” So, this means that you’re capable of animal communication!

It’s just a matter of waking up this ability. You can take the first steps by reading educational materials. I have written many animal-communication articles for this magazine, such as:

Debunking the Myths

Holistic animal care (HAC) is sometimes referred to as natural, alternative or integrative care. HAC may seem spooky or just plain ‘out there.’ So, let’s shed light on some common myths:

* Holistic care is solely product-based, such as pet food, supplements, shampoos, etc.

HAC goes far beyond tangible products, as there are methods that involve the body, mind and spirit—like animal communication, muscle testing, energy work, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and even dog yoga.

* Holistic care methods focus mainly on acupuncture, chiropractic services and laser therapy.

While these therapies are common in holistic veterinary practices, HAC consists of so many modalities, in addition to the above, such as flower essences, aromatherapy, crystal therapy, color therapy, acupressure, massage and homeopathy. Holistic animal care is a growing field and more pet parents and animal professionals are learning how to help animals of all kinds and all ages to live happier, healthier and longer lives.

* Holistic care only works on an emotional level.

While most illness and disease are emotional based for both animals and people, HAC works to bring the whole body back into balance on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level.

* Holistic care is difficult to learn.

The most common mistake people make is in applying human holistic protocols to animals, because animals are far more sensitive than we are. With proper knowledge, most holistic methods can be learned easily from the comfort of your home. If anyone tells you they’re ‘gifted,’ run from them, as that’s their ego speaking. Everyone is capable of learning how to offer HAC, including talking to animals.

* Holistic care is expensive.

HAC can be affordable. Muscle testing is the key to finding out exactly what nutrition and methods your animal needs and the order of priority, along with respective amounts and proper time frame. For in-stance, if your animal needs aromatherapy, muscle testing can tell you the correct essential oils, application process, number of drops, frequency and duration. HAC can save you time, money and your animal’s well-being.

* Holistic care takes a long time to see results.

You can have immediate results with HAC. Not every animal or situation will respond right away, but many will. HAC can help improve or resolve the majority of physical and behavioral issues.

* Holistic care is only appropriate for occasional use.

When HAC is part of your regular routine, you’ll see the rewards. Get hooked, and you’ll crave the ability to provide the best for the animals in your care.

Keep in mind that when you learn how to help animals, you can apply these techniques for your own benefit as well. HAC is a great complement to traditional veterinary care. Team up with a holistic vet, but don’t be afraid to learn some HAC methods yourself. Make holistic animal care a way of life, not a last resort. There’s nothing to be scared about. And your animals will thank you!
