as an Everyday Practice

After years of intuitive coaching, vision board workshops, and personal creative experiments, it has become clear to me that each and every day is an opportunity for navigating life with a vision in mind. The spirit of creative energy can’t be beat! It’s heartfelt and alive no matter how you are applying it. Sometimes it’s painting, writing, poetry and clay. More often for many of us, it’s cooking a new recipe, folding the laundry, repotting a plant, or meditating while washing the dishes.
Keeping a dream alive or maintaining a miracle state of consciousness is really the key to practicing creative visioning. No matter the endless news cycle, the day-to-day interruptions or the constantly shifting priorities, with repeated practice, we are able to clearly imagine a vision for our lives that can motivate our actions.
“Your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions.”
—Albert Einstein
Visioning is about creating thoughts, images, words and intentions that represent your ambitions, your destination, your mission, your fondest wishes or simply how you would like to look and feel. Your intentions need to come from that joyous place within you, where you love yourself and want the best for you and the world around you. Visioning is not about getting, it’s about fulfilling and attuning to your higher self for direction.
“A vision is not just a picture of what could be; it is an appeal to our better selves,
a call to become something more.”
—Rosabeth Moss Kanter
Here’s a brief summary of ideas that have emerged from my coaching practice for activating creative visioning:
- Vision boards are great and I’ve seen the most miraculous results take place over the years. You can dream big and expand your horizons with images that correspond with your mind’s eye.
- Journaling can open up a conversation with yourself, leaning into your authenticity and helping you discover what you really want.
- Meditation may also be a pathway to lift your spirits and move you towards your values and innermost desires.
- Sharing your story with like-minded friends may enliven your hopes and help you delineate your dreams. Getting together with others to work creatively will no doubt multiply the joy.
- Coaching and collaboration can also highlight and support your unique worthiness, encourage the next steps on your journey and unlock your creativity.
Planting the seed of creativity in one area of our lives also has a delightful tendency to spill over into other areas. As you reach for achieving your vision, remember to celebrate even the smallest of victories, gifts and blessings. The process is more important than instant results and with patience and an open heart, you will find the universe cooperating and even surprising you with magical assistance, even as you practice keeping your creative vision alive in your heart and mind.
