When purchasing a shampoo to clean your pet, do you wonder if its harsh chemicals act as a stripper on their coat and skin or, in fact, does it have ingredients that enhance the fur and skin of your animals? A major key to cleanse and dissolve dirt and to improve the condition of their skin is to select organic, essential oils mixed in a surfactant that not only cleanses, but also acts as an insect repellent for lice, ticks. and other insects.
Animal Scents™ Shampoo
Young Living’s Animal Scents Shampoo is all-natural and carries five, powerful essential oils that blend together to increase their power and gently cleanse to increase luster without using harsh chemicals. The essential oils included are: citronella, lavandin (lavandula hybrida), lemon, geranium, and spikenard (or added alternatives like northern lights black spruce and vetiver depending on the regional formulation).
To apply, gently pour warm water over the animal and then place a small amount of the concentrated shampoo into the palm of your hand. Massage thoroughly into the animal’s coat. Lather and rinse well. Repeat if necessary. You will notice the difference right away in the quality of their coat, along with a gentle fragrance—and so will your animal!
Animal Scents™ Ointment
If you notice any rashes, bites, bruises, or cuts on your pet, the application of an ointment might be the thing to bring comfort, to heal, and to protect. Animal Scents offers a gentle but effective approach without harsh chemicals. The ointment is heavy and stays on the skin without dissolving. It’s great for both pets and farm animals. Be aware that animals are drawn to this product and will want to lick it off; it’s not harmful.
The essential oils in this ointment include tea tree and myrrh. The ointment also relies on a rich, plant-based blend of moisturizing carrier oils and butter, which include: apricot kernel oil, sunflower seed oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, mango seed butter, and castor seed oil, tamanu seed oil, and naturally occurring vitamin E (tocopherol).
Apply as needed. It can be used to place over an essential oil of your choice to seal the oil in, such as when treating an abrasion. Choose gentle oils such as cedarwood, lavender, the Peace & Calming blend (with bright citrus notes of tangerine and orange with the soft and grounding essences of ylang ylang, patchouli, and blue tansy), or the Valor blend (black spruce, camphor wood, blue tansy, frankincense, geranium, and rosewood.)
If you are introducing the ointment and oils to an animal, cats in particular, you can start by applying it to the paws. Keep the product away from their eyes. Animal Scents Ointment is handy as a general moisturizing balm for people, too! It’s excellent as a foot rub, for minor skin irritations, for dry or chapped skin, and to soothe minor cuts and scrapes.
